Records fall on Alsatan track at Asian Athletics Champs

The track is a new Blue Alsatan track by Stockmeier Urethanes / ASI Astro  in May and was used in June for the Asian Athletics Champs.




Colombo, 10 June 2012: South Korean Lee Jeongeun won Gold medal in the Women 10km walk final witha timing of 49min 04.60sec. Wang Yelan ( 50:01.15) of China and India's Khubir Kaur ( 50:39.40)bagged silver and bronze medal respectively.
Colombo, Jun 9 ,2012: Fu Haitao of China beat Tepparak Pratchaya in the Men's Triple Jump final with a jump of 16.38m ( +1.1). Tepparak was leading with 16.25m till 4th round before Youth Olympic Games silver medalist Fu logged winning distance in the 5th Jump. Khosravi Mostafa of Iran was way back for third place with a distance of 15.31m. Fu was awarded gold medal by Brig. Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad , Senior Vice President of AAA and Vice President of IAAF.

In men's shot put Asian Junior Record holder Li Meng of China faced hardly any challenge on his way to win title with a throw of 19.95m. Abdul Qadri Mohammad Omer of Saudi Arabia was distant second with 18.44m. Singapore thrower Wong Kai Yuen set new National record to finish on the third place with 17.39m.

Fastest Asian Junior title went to Taftian Hassan of Iran. He clocked 10.49sec in 100m running against massive head wind of -2.3m/s. Xie Zhenye of China and Al Shalani Yousef Ali ( 10.64s) of Saudi Arabia finished on the second and third place respectively.

Chinese Taipei national champion Liao Ching-Hsien is now also fastest Asian Junior  women. Liao narrowly beat Lin Huijun of China by mere 1/100 seconds. Thailand's Pakdee Khanrutai took bronze in 12.17sec.

Zhang Wei of China set new Asian Championship record of 5.31m in Pole Vault final. He broke previous record of fellow chinese Yang Yanshengof 5.30m set in 2010.

In the men's Decathlon Alzeed Magid of Kuwait was leading the event with total points of 3321 followed by Iran's Sanaei Jamaladdin with 3309.  Mao Chi Shun of TPE was trailing on the third place with 3281 points and Sorour Abduallah of Kuwait on 4th place with 3026 points.

Prior to the start of the evening session 15th Asian Junior Athletics Championship was inaugrated by Prime minister of Sri Lanka D. M. Jayarajne.
Colombo, Jun 9, 2012: Japanese twin sisters grabbed 1-2 position in the first final of the 15th Asian Junior Athletics Championship commenced at the newly build blue running track at Sugathadasa National Stadium.

Haruka Kyuma beat Youth Olmypic Games 3000m silver medalist twin sister Moe Kyuma to register first major win over her sister. Haruka maintained lead from start to finish while Moe Kyuma kept following closely till end but could not produce definitative kick towards finish line. Haruka clocked 16:07.74sec while Moe timed 16:08.17s. North Korea runner Kim Hyr Gyeeg finished on the third place in 16:32.02sec.
